Description
This painting was part of my early exploration into creating looser, less literal florals. I wanted to capture the feeling of a garden border without defining every flower, resisting the temptation to keep adding detail or overwork the painting.
Using thinned oils and delicate brushwork, I built up soft layers of greens, pinks, purples and whites, with just a few touches of palette knife for texture. It became an important step towards the freer, more abstract floral work that followed.
