Description
A gorgeous bunch of peonies and stocks, given to me as a gift by one of my fellow artists after Brighton Artists Open House. I loved the combination of purples, pinks and mauves, and this painting became the starting point for a collection exploring a more abstract, Impressionist style.
Rather than focusing on the detail of the flowers, I zoomed in on my photographs and challenged myself to see them differently, concentrating on shape, texture, colour and light. This approach allowed me to move further away from painting flowers literally and towards something more abstract and expressive.
