Description
Beginnings was the first painting I created after many years away from painting, inspired by my love of meadow flowers and the wonderful mix of colours found in flower markets and stalls around London. It was also my first time working with oils, and I chose to use a palette knife to create the movement, texture and depth.
I was drawn to the way the flowers reach upwards towards the sky, almost as if you were lying in a meadow looking up. There’s a sense of light and freedom in the painting that I still love, and it’s why I couldn’t bring myself to part with the original.
