Description
This small oil painting was one of the final floral studies I created in this series, and marked a move away from the warmer yellow tones of the earlier pieces.
Here, deeper pinks, greens and touches of yellow sit against a softer blue-grey background, giving the feeling of looking up through flowers and foliage towards glimpses of sky.
Painted in oils using brushes and with very delicate touches of palette knife, I kept the marks loose and expressive, allowing the colours and shapes to suggest the flowers rather than define them too precisely.
It found a new home with a fellow Hove artist.
