Fertility Drugs and side effects!
The long list of possible side effects were explained to me before my treatment, so I mentally prepared myself for all eventualities, but for the first time in a while I actually felt lucky. I only experienced a little bloating towards the end of 10 days of injections, not even a bruised tummy to show for my troubles!
Like many people, I thought the drugs would make me feel even more emotional than normal, but as women I think we over analyse many things and worry unnecessarily, which brings its own stress.
Everyone has their own way of dealing with stress, anxiety and worry, mine was definitely running! It helped me to switch off, clear my head and put things into perspective. Of course running isn’t for everyone, but I’d definitely recommend speaking to your consultant to get some advice on methods of relaxation or meditation. Not only will it help you during this time, but you may find that it adds value to your life long after egg freezing/IVF.
My other piece of advice to you if you’re going though this, is to tell as many people that you are close to how you’re feeling and what you’re going through. You will be amazed at how supportive people are and how much weight has been lifted from your shoulders just by talking. It will definitely alleviate some of that anxiety and after all, how will anyone know how to support you if you don’t tell them what you’re going through?
