• Mental Health Awareness Week 18-24 May 2020

Awareness weeks are great for focusing more attention on mental health, but my hope would be that we all have more focus on everyone’s mental health, including our own every day. Speaking from a personal point of view I know how difficult it can be to open up to some people, for fear of being judged, so I just can’t imagine if this was the case if you had no one to trust. I thought this piece by James was especially relevant at the moment, with so many people feeling the side effects of isolation. Perhaps even the people you have in your life that you thought were tough aren’t…

    Adapting to change…

Ironically ‘Adapting to change’ is the subject of my latest life coaching module, I don’t think the timing could be more poignant. Like all of us, this past week has been full on, with totally overwhelming emotions at times, but I believe some of my own learnings and observations may be helpful to share if they help someone else. Although these are unprecedented times, I do believe some of the things I’ve learnt about myself over the past few years, as well as from the coaching community and self studying is helping me navigate these difficult times. I am very self-aware of my emotions and know from past experiences how…

  • Resilience…..what time has taught me!

It’s been a while since you heard from me, but I’ve always said I would only carry on writing here if it continued to feel cathartic, or I had something to share that may help someone else. So, the fact that I’m writing again hopefully means this might be of interest to someone out there! I’m still on a steep learning curve on the coaching course that I started last year, and definitely one of self discovery, but it has also opened my eyes to some of thing reasons behind we think, feel and behave the way we do. That sounds pretty heavy stuff, but today I’m going to try…

  • Pushing through fear…………..

So for those of you that read my blog regularly you’ll know I decided to take the plunge, and push through the fear and enrol on a coaching course earlier this year. Although it’s early days, it’s definitely one of the best decisions I’ve made this year! Two weekends ago I took part in my very first coaching workshop, which basically involved being assessed by fellow students and an assessor whilst coaching other students. I know this would have terrified me years ago, so I’m pleased to say I kept my nerves at bay and came away being really pleased with how I performed. There’s two very obvious hurdles that…

    Fertility; A Women’s Choice

For those of you that have followed my blog from the start, you will know the reason I started writing followed my decision almost three a half years ago to freeze my eggs. Something that I have talked about at length, but also something I have tried to move on from……… as much as any women can move on from her own fertility story! Today, at the beginning of National Fertility Awareness Week, the Progress Educational Trust (PET) is launching #ExtendTheLimit, a campaign to extend the 10-year storage limit on eggs frozen for non-medical (media please stop calling this social, there’s nothing social about it!) reasons. The trust states, ‘If…
